Welcome to the Zhongguancun Green Mining Industry Alliance website!
The alliance has published two English books with Springer, namely, Interpretation of Green Mine Evaluation Index, and Guidelines for Green Mine Construction and Management, delivered several keynote speeches on China’s green mine practices at the Symposium on Mineral Resource Exploitation and Management in Developing Countries for mining professionals from Uzbekistan, Mozambique, Zambia, and Bolivia, introduced the status quo of China’s green mine construction at the Mining and Mineral Resources Roundtable organized by the German Chambers of Commerce Abroad, and provided training on green mine construction for Chinese firms operating overseas.
Because of the alliance’s contribution to low-carbon development, pollution prevention and reduction, as well as environmental protection and biodiversity protection at mines, Professor Yao Jun, the deputy director of its Technical Committee has been invited to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity and the United Nations Environment Assembly, involved in a succession of UN-sponsored events on environmental protection, ecosystems, and biodiversity.
During the pandemic (2020-2022), the alliance was still an active participant in international conferences on green mining held in China, such as China Mining.
Our presidential unit China Enfi Engineering Corporation has constructed 12,000 engineering projects in more than 30 countries and regions, including Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Mongolia, Vietnam, Iran, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Namibia, Zambia, South Africa, Liberia, Kenya, Eritrea, Algeria, Zimbabwe, Ecuador, Venezuela, Chile, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Mexico, India Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Canada, and Romania. Our alliance works to facilitate ENFI’s incorporation of the principles and technologies of green mines into the design of its overseas projects, which has led to a series of benchmarking projects in recent years, such as Lygend OBI laterite-nickel ore hydrometallurgical processing project (Indonesia’s first nickel-cobalt smelter using modern techniques), the Kamoa-Kakula copper beneficiation project in the Democratic Republic of Congo (the world’s highest grade copper mine), the Mirador copper mine in Ecuador (Ecudor’s first large-scale solid mine; a copper mine in South America built with the Chinese standards), the Ramu Ni-Co Project in Papua New Guinea (the largest one-off construction joint project of overseas nonferrous metal integrated processing invested by a Chinese firm; received the “China Industrial Awards commendation Award”), the Tagaung Taung Nickel Mine project in Myanmar (the largest China-Myanmar joint project of integrated mine processing; Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award), the Chambishi copper integrated processing project in Zambia (the first overseas non-ferrous mine invested by China), the Pangbi Copper-Cobalt Mine Project in the Democratic Republic of Congo (a whole-process hydrometallurgical copper processing project that was completed in the shortest time in Africa), Gamsberg Zinc Mine in South Africa (one of the world’s largest zinc mines), the sulphuric acid plant for Husab in Namibia (China's largest industrial investment project in Africa), the SK Mine Shaft Project in India (a combined shaft overseas with the most significant improvements that was built with Chinese standards), Sin Quyen Copper Integrated Processing project in Vietnam (the first overseas application of China’s patented SKS technique), and the Saindak Copper Gold Project in Pakistan (China’s first overseas joint project of nonferrous metal integrated processing).
Our vice presidential unit Shandong Jinfu Mining Co., Ltd has invested in Mongolia Mountain Gold Mining Co., Ltd., which was constructed according to the green mine standards to maximize environmental production during resource exploitation.
Other members such as Handar Blasting and Weifang Tianjie have had their self-developed techniques applied in foreign countries, safeguarding the construction of green mines at the technical level.
Mr. Chen Jinghe, Chairman of our member Zijin Mining proposed to construct the Musonoi Mine strictly based on green mine principles and standards, in order to improve the company’s comprehensive competitiveness and set an exemplary record in Congo’s century-old mining history. At present, the mine has reached the standards of a green mine and initiated tail gas treatment in the country’s mining industry.
